2014 / Adiós para siempre
Adiós para siempre presents a series of drawings that recall the cataloging of objects, plants or
animals via taxonomic criteria. Typical of illustration and consequently of the encyclopedic, the
draftsman brings to mind extinct animals and plants, and women and men who proved
transcendent to culture for having chosen suicide. We encounter the pets of friends and
acquaintances who are no longer with us, ships that are memorable for their shipwrecks,
crashed or fallen planes, and car accidents made famous for the celebrities who died as a
result.
The atmosphere is complemented by the sound of songs from popular music that sing of loss
and saying farewell. We also find a songbook that includes drawn portraits of the singers:
Chavela Vargas, Las Hermanitas Calle, Bola de Nieve and Genaro Salinas, whose song Adiós para
siempre gives the show its name. All of the characters are present and speak once again from
the pain of a memory that generates something that will never return.
